On Wednesday, November 1 from 6-8pm, Michele Morrissey, will join us to teach about the art of sugar skull decorating in celebration of the Mexican festival Dia de los Muertos. Michele will provide all of the skulls and icing, and BSC will provide the decorations.
"Dia de los Muertos- the Day of the Dead- is a holiday celebrated on November 1 and 2 throughout the cities and villages of Latin America. Dia de los Muertos is most strongly associated with Mexico, where the tradition originated. Some believe that the gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31 and the spirits of deceased angelitos (children) are allowed to reunite with their families for 24 hours. On November 2, the spirits of adults come down to enjoy the festivities that are prepared for them."
In honor of the holiday, and celebrating life and death, we will be making donations to the Humane Society Disaster Relief fund. Donations are not mandatory, but are appreciated for this cause!
This event is free of charge and open to all ages! A limited menu of pizza, salad, fish and chips, and fries will be available, along with beverages.
