Join us at the Beach Store Café, Rain or Shine – Inside or Outside (or Both)! We are offering “A Beach Store Café Night to Save The Seal Pups.” Principal Investigator and Lummi Island Resident, Victoria Souze will be hosting a night of Education and Information in support of the organization, The Whatcom Marine Mammal Stranding Network

It has a short-term goal of raising $4,000 quickly, scrambling to put things in place before the birthing season for seals begins. Most seal pups are born in June and July in this region, although some have been born as early as May - and as late as September.

It’s stepping in after Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center announced that it won’t provide rehabilitation for marine mammals in 2016 for a number of reasons, with the main one being the loss of a federal grant provided through NOAA.   For more, go to this link.

Education Director for the Network and Lummi Island resident, Kelsey McLane will also be on site to answer Islanders’ questions about the current needs of the program. This Fundraiser will feature Information Booths and Education Booths and a Slide Show of the importance of the Stranding Network’s work.

Music and entertainment will be provided by Jean Rohe, Brooklyn N.Y. singer and songwriter who will be appearing later in the month at the Seattle Folklife Festival, as a part of her PNW Tour. Doors open at 6:00 PM. with the Booths open at that time!  There will also be a coloring station for kids.  Music Sets start at 6:30 P.M.
